The property conference was attended by over 21,000 delegates from Europe, including a contingent from Russia and Eastern Europe, the Middle East including Emirate States of Dubai and Oman, and the UK.

There were some important messages to be learned from the conference:

1
The property market is buoyant throughout all regions represented.

2
There is considerable optimism that the property market will remain buoyant for the next few years, and with the “Olympic effect” this will continue in the UK to 2012 and beyond.

3
The weight of development is moving north out of London in the UK and there are a considerable number of significant regeneration schemes taking place in major cities, including Coventry.

4
There was a strong will to provide sustainable developments and the private sector is contributing to this.

5
In the Midlands there are several major developments including those being proposed in Northamptonshire, (there is a new UDC being established for West Northamptonshire).

6
There are proposals for regionalising the whole of the West Midlands area to encompass Birmingham, Coventry, the Black Country and Staffordshire. Is this a threat? Or can we work this to Coventry’s advantage?
